Military Schools for Troubled Teens

A traditional military school is an educational institution that is specifically designed to train students in military arts and sciences. While these schools do place a significant emphasis on discipline, structure, and team effort, they are generally not designed for teens with significant behavioral problems.This is because these schools are not therapeutically focused. Rather, they are designed to prepare students for life in the military after graduation or enrollment in a military college. As of this writing, there are only 42 military schools that meet the academic, military, and ethical standard of the Association of Military Colleges and Schools of the United States. Many organizations holding themselves out as “military schools for troubled teens” would be more accurately described as juvenile boot camps.
