About Us - Our Students

The typical Accendo Academy student is the so-called "troubled teen" or "at-risk" teen. This is generally a young man between the age of 12 and 17 who has had problems in a traditional school system and/or their own home environment.  He may be described as a “good kid, making bad choices.” Most of our students have exhibited one or more of the following characteristics:

• Rebellious behavior, including frequent defiance of authority and rule-breaking
• Poor academic performance caused by behavioral and attention problems (ADD, ADHD)
• Drug or alcohol experimentation
• Poor choices of friends and social relationships
• Mood swings, irritability, uncontrolled anger, and aggressive behavior
• Lying and other deceptive behavior
• Manipulative behavior
• Acting without regard to consequences (irresponsibility)
