Residential Treatment Centers |
|
| Residential treatment centers are medical/clinical organizations that provide short-term residential treatment for your child. The best example of a residential treatment center is an organization designed to provide a detoxification period for patents with a serious drug addiction. While length of stay in these programs can vary, many are only short-term and may not produce lasting results. However, within the addiction context, these programs may be the best alternative to break the physical dependency on the substance. One benefit of residential treatment centers is that some insurance companies will pay for the treatment. Typically, the residential treatment center must be approved by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations in order for an insurance company to pay for the cost.
Outside of the addiction context, the short-term treatment provided by many residential treatment centers is often not enough to make a permanent difference in a teen’s life. For this reason, it may be helpful to follow a stay in a residential treatment center with another type of program. |
